Castlegar gets a tree plan

The City of Castlegar has sown the seeds for their Street Tree Master Plan.

Council has hired a contractor to the tune of over $37,000 to move forward with the initiative that will plant trees to isolate carbon emissions, engage the community on climate change, and promote active transportation.

Here’s councillor Gord Turner.

In 2012 the city set up the Climate Action Reserve fund to provide a financial source for climate mitigation and adaption strategies.

The 2014 budget allocated $42,000 for the Street Tree Master plan.
