Castlegar needs recycling re-education:councillor

The City of Castlegar will focus on re-educating the public as they continue to adapt to changes from the MMBC recycling stewarship program.

Following a meeting with MMBC, councillor Kevin Chernoff says one of their biggest issues is plastic bags being mixed in with other plastics.

The new MMBC service also doesn’t include glass pick up – which Castlegar had prior to the province wide roll out in May.

Chernoff says it they want to get certain services back it will most likely be a hit to taxpayers.

The City will conduct public consultation ahead of their Waste Management contract expiring next year.
