Nelson aims higher with GHG reductions

Nelson’s impressive carbon emissions reductions success is a lot more than a feel-good issue.

A 25% reduction will be achieved regarding publicly owned assets after the city’s first five year plan wraps up next year.

Things could improve to as much as 37% in the following five years and even to 80% by 2040.

And Corporate Energy Coordinator Fiona Galbraith says it all saves money.


The projects to cut emissions – like major improvements to public building lighting and heating systems – are paid for with Federal Gas Tax dollars.
