De groot incident:RCMP hear Slocan resident concerns

A Slocan village councillor says a couple of key issues were on the minds of residents who showed up for this week’s RCMP public debrief on the tragic Peter de Groot incident.

But Hillary Elliot says it’s hard to judge if most of the community figure the police response to the alleged shooter was over-the-top.

Elliot adds some residents still feel distraught about the fatal outcome for de Groot and some kids evacuated from the school may require some further help to adjust.

She adds the village will work with police and other agencies on a future table-top exercise to improve a communications plan that seemed to be lacking for this emergency incident.
