Time for heritage designation for Trail buildings?

The Trail Historical Society thinks its worthwhile the city create a bylaw to protect local heritage buildings.

This from President Jamie Forbes after the idea was brought up at a recent council meeting.

Forbes says its important to recognize places in a community that have had an impact on its history.

Councillor Sean MacKinlay brought the idea to light after this year’s Communities In Bloom judges commented on the lack of heritage sites in the Silver City.

The historical society went to the City about two years ago with an attempt to give heritage status to a particular house – but were denied because no bylaw existed.
