Jumbo Resort laughs off NDP avalanche criticism

Jumbo Glacier Resort is dismissing the latest criticism against their project.

Senior VP Grant Costello says the New Democrats raising the avalanche risk in the legislature was purely political.

He referred to it as the regular anti-development stance of the NDP’s MLA’s in the Kootenays.

Costello says their day lodge is not being built in an avalanche zone as has been suggested by some and like all other major resorts Jumbo has had proper studies done to show that and the ministry has seen them.

He adds the resort has its opponents who -from time to time – have tried unsuccessfully to introduce complaints like this latest one.
