Trail waives parking fees to promote downtown business

The Silver City is helping new business land in the downtown but is it at the cost of preparing for upcoming parking problems?

Council agreed this week to waive all of the $21,000 worth of parking fees required under Trail’s zoning bylaw for property owners to renovate a building on Cedar Ave into an engineering office.

These fees would have gone into a reserve for future parking facilities.

Corporate Administrator Michelle McIsaac says when it comes to ongoing development of the downtown they will need to create more options for the public.

McIsaac admits there is only about $20,000 in that parking facility reserve.
