Local school support workers ratify new deal

Another CUPE local representing school support workers has ratified a new collective agreement with the school board.

This time it’s Local 748 who work in the Kootenay Lake District.

Last week the Kootenay Columbia local also ratified their new deal.

It’s a five year contract from July 2014 through to 2019 and sees a 5.5% wage increase over the term.

The deal also reimburses support workers for all scheduled hours lost during the recent BC Teachers strike.
