CUPE school support worker contract positive:negotiator

The CUPE local representing almost 400 school support staff in the Kootenay Lake district are happy with a new five year deal.

It resolved issues surrounding lay-off and job vacancy info as well as enhancing the union’s ability to support members in the work place.

Here’s lead negotiator for local 748 Chris Losito.

SD 8 says the new collective agreement will enable them to continue to strengthen their employment relationship.

Last year there was tension when local trustees were the only ones in BC refusing to dip into their budget to fund government-mandated wage increases for CUPE support staff.
