MP dealing with pension cheque glitch

Local MP Alex Atamanenko is asking anyone who has not been receiving their monthly OAP and Canada Pension cheques to get in touch with his Castlegar office.

Apparently Service Canada has stopped sending payments to some people because their T-4 pension slips came back as “undeliverable” or people have not updated their mailing address.

But Atamanenko says he’s getting calls from people who have not moved.

He says his office has a good working relationship with Service Canada.

Atamanenko says the Service Canada policy may be for security reasons but seems heavy-handed and pensioners are facing hardships if their monthly cheque doesn’t arrive.
