Two pedestrians seriously hurt in Trail

Two elderly women are in hospital after being hit by a car while using a crosswalk Tuesday night in Trail.

Police were called to the residential area of 2nd Ave and Robertson St just after 7 pm.

One victim is recovering from broken bones at KBRH and the other was transported to Kelowna Hospital with severe head injuries.

West Kootenay Traffic Services Sgt John Ferguson says a witness across the street didn’t even see the pair of women until they were hit.

He warns drivers and pedestrians to be extra careful.

Ferguson adds alcohol and speed are not considered to be factors but they are continuing to investigate.
