Xmas ruined by thief in Fruitvale

Christmas has been ruined for a Fruitvale family who were robbed this week .

Trail RCMP Sergeant Darren Oelke says a woman briefly left her home on Mollar Rd between 12 pm and 3 PM Wednesday and then the residence was broken into.

Oelke says it is a suspicious situation as the residents say a stranger knocked on their door the day before claiming to be looking for a friend.

In his experience he figures when something like this happens it is most likely not a coincidence.

If anyone has information they are asked to call RCMP.
