It has been four years in the making but our area’s first Co-Op Housing venture is ready.
The first twelve families are set to move in to the development at Six Mile near Nelson.
One of the owners Andrew Earnshaw says they all invested in the land, helped design the lay-out and embrace the common facilities concept.
12 duplexes are built around a community hall featuring a large kitchen and dining area, kids room and guest suites.
That means the privately-owned affordable homes don’t need to be too big.
They also have a common space for growing food.
