Police probe deadly Trail pedestrian accident

RCMP West Kootenay Traffic Services are reviewing the stretch of Second Avenue in Trail – including the street lighting – after last week’s deadly pedestrian crash.

One of the two women who were hit Tuesday night on the crosswalk at Robertson Street has died of her injuries. She’s been identified as 68 year old Carla Evans.

Here’s Sgt John Ferguson.

Ferguson says drivers can be looking at the other crosswalks instead of the one immediately ahead of them.

But he adds the road was wet and dark and absorbed the light from head-lights.

Also the pedestrians were wearing dark clothing.
