Man dies on Hway 3 near Salmo

A warning from local traffic police after a death on Highway 3 near Salmo this morning.

Major changes in driving conditions have been reported depending on temperature variations and altitude.

An 83 year old Salmo man died when he went into the oncoming lane and hit another vehicle. The female driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

RCMP Sgt John Ferguson says icy conditions are one factor in this crash but they’ll also explore if he may have had a medical event.

Ferguson adds there will also be a professional mechanical inspection of the vehicle.
