Labour deal includes cap on city-paid grievance handling

We’re learning more about one of the key aspects of the new collective agreement between the city of Castlegar and its unionized employees.

This after city council ratified the new deal.

It features a faster process for handling worker grievances and a 15-hour per month cap on city-paid time to allow for that.

Here’s mayor Lawrence Chernoff.

The 6-year deal features a 10.3% wage increase.

It also shows a commitment from both sides for a relationship enhancement program following the recent bitter strike.

Chernoff says that will be an opportunity for everyone to speak their mind.
