KBRH road request could be conflict for Nelson:councillor

Regional co-operation versus a fight for federal grant funding.

That’s the conflict facing Nelson council as it ponders whether to support Trail’s request to endorse its grant application for a second access road to KBRH.

Nelson has also applied for the limited grants for its Hall Street project.

Councillor Michael Dailly flatly rejects the idea because a letter supporting Trail could sway the ultimate decision-makers.

He’s looked at Trail’s application and figures it doesn’t outweigh Nelson’s bid.

Before it decides Nelson council wants to know if Trail has endorsements from other communities and if Interior Health would help fund the road.
