Nelson Commons demolition slated for this week

After three years of planning the first visual signal that the ambitious Nelson Commons development really is happening should materialize this week.

That’s the word from Project Manager Russell Precious who says everyone connected with the Kootenay Co-Op venture has reason to be excited.

A large foundation hole will be excavated once the old Extra Foods building is taken away.

The $27 million 4-storey multi-use development on Nelson’s Vernon street is scheduled to be built by the summer of 2016.

Precious says it will be important for the community and the Co-Op membership to see major work really is underway later this week.
