Medical marijuana interest in Greater Trail building

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary is confirming there have been enquiries about a defunct industrial building in Greater Trail becoming a medical marijuana facility.

From a zoning perspective the old 5N engineering site at Columbia Gardens is ready to be used for that purpose if Health Canada gave a license to the proponents.

But RDKB GM of Operations Mark Andison says there has not yet been any formal application from anyone.

Andison says if a proponent set up shop without making changes to the building they could go ahead and produce medical marijuana there.

But he stresses any applicant must first go through the strict Health Canada process.
