Brilliant Flats could become conservation zone

There’s a push to turn the Brilliant Upper and Lower Flats land along the Kootenay and Columbia Rivers into a conservation zone.

RDCK Area I Director Andy Davidoff says there has been a plan since the mid 1990s to make the nearly 60 acre area into a park.

Davidoff says however that takes a lot of resources and could cost a lot of money.

Davidoff says they hope to start the Area I community plan process this year that will look at how those lands should be designated.
