Castlegar to keep peddling on their bike Master Plan

The City of Castlegar is going to move forward with its Pedestrian and Cycling Master Plan.

So says councillor Sue Heaton-Sherstobitoff after council heard from three separate residents at their regular meeting this week.

The homeowners were concerned with the nearby recreational pathway along Connors Road that they say has decreased their property value and removed a natural sound barrier.

Heaton-Sherstobitoff says they’ve heard the concerns but the path is staying put.

The residents feel they were not properly consulted by the City and want to meet with members of council to discuss possible changes to the path.

The City received $100,000 worth of provincial funding to put towards the $350,000 project.*

*This story has been amended to reflect the $350,000 price tag. We erroneously reported it was $250,000.
