Community invited to opening of COLLAGE exhibition

The public is invited to celebrate the opening of COLLAGE, an eight-artist group exhibition showcasing contemporary collage by artists from across Canada, on Friday, July 17, from 7 to 9 p.m.

The free opening reception will bring together artists, art supporters and community members for an evening of conversation and contemporary art. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., artists Tanya Pixie Johnson, Tim Moore, Anna Binta Diallo, Geoffrey Farmer and Angela Grossmann will introduce themselves and speak briefly about their work.

Curated by Arin Fay, COLLAGE is the seventh exhibition in an ongoing series exploring a single artistic medium or practice. Previous exhibitions have examined textiles, language, ceramics, photography, paper and wood, bringing together local, regional and national artists while creating opportunities for community engagement through contemporary art.

This year’s exhibition features work by Blair Brennan, Anna Binta Diallo, Geoffrey Farmer, Brendan Fernandes, Maggie Groat, Angela Grossmann, Tim Moore and Tanya Pixie Johnson. Together, the artists present a range of approaches to collage, reflecting diverse perspectives, experiences and creative processes.

Alongside COLLAGE, visitors can also view The Death Card by Robin Wiltse in Gallery B. The exhibition, which opened July 3, will be accompanied by additional public programming, including an artist talk in the coming months.

Admission to the opening reception is free, and everyone is welcome.
