An anti water meter activist in Grand Forks says city councillor Julia Butler could use the public support.
That’s why he’s organizing a rally in her support outside city hall on Friday at noon.
Donald Pharand says she is facing personal and financial pressure in light of her possible Supreme Court defence against the city over alleged conflict of interest.
Pharand adds the court case will mean more costs for taxpayers. And he says there are people who are in favour of the meters but are commiserating with Butler for “the injustice” and will also be at the rally Friday.
Grand Forks’ lawyers figure Butler is in direct conflict although the city is not giving details.
It’s believed to be connected to her lawn care business which she’s now dissolved.
