Federal candidates face lively Creston crowd

A lively crowd of well over 200 people cheered and clapped throughout a federal election forum in Creston last night.

The 4 candidates for Kootenay-Columbia fielded questions around farming and agriculture, Pharmacare and seniors.

One of the more contentious topics surrounded each party’s stance on the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.

NDP candidate Wayne Stetski says its negative effects are far reaching.

Conservative candidate David Wilks says he has faith in the process.

Green candidate Bill Green and Liberal Don Johnston echoed Stetski’s concerns.

The TPP is a proposed trade agreement between several Pacific Rim countries concerning a variety of matters of economic policy.
