Retired employee cautions council on garbage rules

A retired Nelson public works employee is urging the city to take another look at its new garbage regulations.

To cut down on injuries, the city is asking residents to remove bags from cans and leave them for pick-up.

But Wayne Perry suggests the problem is actually with the trucks.

Perry implored council this week to consult its employees.

New rules being phased in also lower the maximum weight of each bag to 20 kilograms.
