Police Chief disagrees with mayor’s “silos” analysis

Nelson’s Police Chief is not on the same page with the mayor’s analysis that various groups seeking to address issues such as mental health aren’t thinking collaboratively.

Deb Kozak told this radio station last week that various city services have been working in silos and need to work as a team – a comment the Chief does not agree with.

Wayne Holland says the police department has always worked well with other stakeholders and cites his Diversity Advisory Committee.

Meanwhile Holland says Nelson Community Services’ proposal for a street outreach worker may offer solutions to addressing the volume of mental health police call-outs.
