Embattled Grand Forks city councillor Julia Butler is surprised by what she suggests is the lack of substance to the city’s legal action against her.
She’s reacting to Tuesday’s formal filing of the petition to the Supreme Court to have her removed from office for conflict of interest and breach of oath.
Court documents show butler continued to vote on water meter issues after the city’s lawyers advised she was in conflict.
She previously ran a lawn care business and before being elected said the city’s universal metering would impact that business financially.
Butler – who opposes the meters – rejects she’s in conflict and calls case against her “weak” and something that will end up costing taxpayers a lot of money.
