Nelson’s Lakeside Park opens after storm

Extensive clean-up efforts by Nelson city crews following Monday evening’s major storm have paid off.

According to the city’s official Facebook page Lakeside  Park was re-opened later Tuesday afternoon.

Initial estimates by the Parks and City Managers suggested the park would remain closed into the night so things could be readied for Wednesday’s Canada Day.

This was the scene early Tuesday.

Tree roots ripped Lakeside

There was major damage to trees in the park and officials said ensuring it was safe was their primary goal.
