Salmo by-election set for September

The new mayor of Salmo says he’s very confident a good turn out of people will run in the upcoming By-election.

This despite no official word on why councillors Ken Anderson and Cathy Paton resigned suddenly last month.

There has been suggestions from within the community that the atmosphere around the council table had not been pleasant. We asked White if he or the two remaining councillors were difficult to work with? White said he had never had anyone tell him that.

He is assuring potential candidates.

White adds it would be beneficial for any potential candidates to come to council meetings and see how modern local governance is done. He says there has been a change in how things are done at Salmo by the new council and it “…pretty rigidly follows procedures.”

The Salmo By-election happens September 12th and candidates can be nominated July 28th through August 7th.
