A group in Nelson is on a mission to increase the number of new voters at the upcoming federal election, and wants the mayor’s help.
Kootenay Community Voters Challenge Rep, Kiara Lynch pitched the idea to Nelson City Council.
In the 2011 federal election, 62 percent of eligible voters in Nelson cast ballots.
The group plans to utilize social media to target young people and traditional non voters to boost that number.
