Local RCMP boat for the summer

Expect to see more police patrols on our local waterways this summer.

RCMP have had a dedicated boat on Christina Lake for some time.

But Corporal Dave Johnson with the Castlegar detachment says they’re ramping up their activity on arrow and Kootenay Lake.

Last weekend they checked over 24 boats on Arrow Lake.

Only one met all the safety requirements and paper work.

The biggest issue is that all passengers have proper life-jackets, otherwise the boat will be sent back to shore.
