The process to find a new police chief in Nelson will also involve the community.
Mayor Deb Kozak -who is chair of the Police Board- says a hiring committee has been struck.
But there will be also an opportunity for the public.
Current Chief Wayne Holland will retire in January.
Kozak says the relationship between the mayor, police board chair and chief is very important and she will play a strong role in the hiring process.
