Local connection to new NHL linesman

A former Trail Smoke-Eater will be making his NHL debut this season.

But the jersey he will be wearing will have stripes rather than a logo.

Brandon Gawyrletz looks forward to stepping into his new role with the nhl’s officiating team as a linesman.

Gawyrletz explains his journey to the pros.

He will be splitting his time this season between the NHL and AHL.

Gawrletz spent much of his junior hockey career in the Kootenays, having stints with the Beaver Valley Nitehawks as well as the Smokies.
