Senior citizens in the Kootenays should be able to enjoy free transit in and around Nelson October 1st for National Seniors Day.
This after Nelson city council proposed waiving bus fees for the day to ensure seniors can make it to the Kootenay Seniors Fair at the Community Complex.
Councilor Valerie Warmington says this will not be a huge expense to taxpayers.
The West Kootenay Transit Committee is expected to approve the free day.
The October 1st fair will feature a number of services and equipment of interest to seniors.
