Police assurances after violent extortion in Salmo

RCMP are assuring the local community that last week’s case of extortion, assault and robbery of an elderly woman in Salmo was not a random act.*

Sgt Darren Oelke says there was a relationship between the accused – 44 year old Pamela Pakenham – and her victim.

Pakenham was disguised but RCMP say it was not difficult to locate and arrest her.

The victim suffered bruises and a possible broken bone in her hand.
