Community Hall not briefed on Jewett closure plan

A community group at the north end of Kootenay Lake has no idea how they are supposed to accommodate school kids.

Jewett Elementary at Meadow Creek may be closed to save on future costs. It has fifteen students.

School District 8 has suggested the youngest kids be schooled in the Lardeau Valley Community Hall.

But Sandra Rempel with the group that runs the hall says nothing has been discussed with them …and they have logistical questions.

Rempel says their group is meeting school board staff Monday evening.
