New rural school fund not electioneering:local Liberal MLA

Why has it taken the Liberal government so long to recognise rural schools are in desperate need of funding?

The opposition New Democrats says new funding for threatened rural schools was just announced only because its getting close to an election.

But Boundary-Similkameen Liberal MLA Linda Larson disagrees.

Local school districts says there simply isn’t enough provincial funding for public education.

Locally, Winlaw and Jewett schools as well as Creston Education Centre face possible closure.

However the new rural fund may now be available to save one or more of them.
