Cougar spotted in Nelson

A cougar was spotted in Nelson yesterday morning.

It was initially seen around 11:40 am in the 300 block of 6th Street but reportedly wasn’t acting aggressively.

Nelson police were called in but were unable to locate the cougar.

And it was last seen walking towards the wooded area behind the 200 block of View Street.

Police are reminding people using the rail trail and surrounding area to be vigilant of their surroundings and contact police if they see the cougar.

BC Conservation Service has been notified of the sighting.
