A group of Creston-area residents have banded together to support this year’s wave of fruit pickers.
The Creston Valley Orchard Workers Support Group is preparing and serving one meal a day for the duration of the season – on their own dime.
Carol Hack is one of the organisers.
She says it’s time for locals accept and support what the workers do for the community.
Hack says the initiative started out as providing a meal a day but has grown to include donated non-perishable food, tents, clothes and toiletries.
