The BC Cancer Agency says the breast cancer screening rate in the Kootenay Boundary is 44 per cent.
That’s a measure of eligible women over 40 taking advantage of the mobile mammography service.
Operations director Janette Sam says the rate is similar to the rest of BC but they want it to be higher.
Screening mammograms can help find cancer in its earliest stages.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
