Nelson’s Chinese-Canadian community has withdrawn its proposal to build a gazebo at Hall and Vernon streets.
It would have gone overtop an existing rock commemorating the city’s former Chinatown district.
But proponent Claus Schunke says city hall didn’t want it in that location.
A staff report suggested the gazebo could go elsewhere but Schunke didn’t think that made sense.
