Nelson Hydro says power consumption is way up as a result of the recent cold snap.
General manager Alex Love says Thursday morning consumption hit 35.8 megawatts.
That’s close to what they expected for peak demand, but it in summer it would be less than 20.
Right now Nelson is generating about 25 per cent of its power and buying the rest from Fortis BC.
Year-round it’s about 50-50.
