Compassion Club boss pans licensing scheme

The director of the Nelson Cannabis Compassion Club is disappointed with the city’s new business licensing scheme.

It’ll allow up to six cannabis dispensaries in town provided they pay $5,000 each and meet other rules.

But Philip McMillan is concerned about the extra costs being passed on to their members.

City council approved the licensing proposal following a public hearing where McMillan was among seven who spoke.

The compassion club has been around since 2000, long before other dispensaries set up in Nelson.
