A $5,000 Canada 150 grant will help pay for a new pair of gateway monuments in Balfour.
Truus Zelonka of the Business and Historic Association says they’re permanent cement structures.
Zelonka says the design is ready and the locations have been picked out.
The monuments will feature artwork of historic water travel on Kootenay Lake, including a sturgeon nosed canoe, sternwheeler, and ferry.
