An unmarked police car just happened to be in the right place at the right time to deal with a person who had no regard for the current fire danger.
RCMP Sergeant Chad Badry says an officer was following a vehicle Tuesday at 8 mile on the north shore of Kootenay Lake.
The Surrey woman who flicked the cigarette was a passenger and was fined $575.
The driver was also fined for speeding and not having vehicle insurance.
The vehicle was then towed.
