Highway blasting at the Beasley bluffs was to blame for a power outage this morning in the Nelson area.
The lights went off shortly after 10 a.m., came back on briefly, then went out again until about 10:45.
Nelson Hydro general manager Alex Love says the blasting dislodged a rock that struck a FortisBC transmission line that feeds the city.
He says the incident had “slim odds” of occurring: “AÂ piece of wire in the air is a pretty narrow target.”
Love says the majority of their system was down, but it has now been fully restored.
