BC Assessment releases property value changes

Nelson’s 2018 property assessment shows value has increased for the average home.

According to BC assessment the percentage change in value for this year was 9.3% – a typical home went from $378,000 to $413,000.

Deputy Assessor Ramaish Shah partly contributes the increase to high demand and lack of available property.

He says stable markets generally saw their assessments rise between 5% and 10% for 2018.

Elsewhere The Village of Slocan’s assessment saw a 0.6% increase with value increasing by $1000.

Creston’s valuation saw an $18,000 increase going from $232,000 to $250,000.
