Nakusp mayor thanks those who lobbied for hospital upgrades

Nakusp’s mayor says the redevelopment project announced last week for Arrow Lakes Hospital is a long time coming.

Karen Hamling says village staff are very excited.

Hamling, Kootenay West MLA Katrine Conroy and the West Kootenay-Boundary Regional Hospital District lobbied to the Ministry of Health to ensure the project was seen as a priority.

Upgrades to the hospital’s emergency ward will be finished by the end of 2019.

The project’s bill is estimated at $2.1 million.
