Grizzlies back in Nelson

NELSON, B.C – The Nelson Grizzlies have awoken after several years in hibernation.
Nicholas Wood is the promotions representative for the rugby team who are now accepting players on both the women- and men’s side.
Their inaugural game will take place this Saturday in Lakeside Park.

“The last few years we had to fold due to a lack of players and organization. Now that we have some people back in the community in resurrecting the program, players are coming on board”, he says.

Nelson Grizzlies will be entering the league to play against the handful of teams in the Kootenays in the future, and are also looking forward to a program in which high school rugby talents can continue their development if they aren’t picked for teams elsewhere.
Nicholas Woods say everyone is welcome, regardless of skill level or previous experience.
“As a community club, community comes first and we are more than happy to teach and have fun”, Wood says.

You can visit the Grizzlies’ website website for more details or e-mail [email protected].
