Fortis BC to offer sessions on energy saving programs

Energy provider Fortis BC will be touring the west Kootenays in the next couple of weeks to get more people on energy saving programs.
Nicole Brown, spokesperson for the company says more people should apply, but that they might not even know about the programs.
“What we are finding is that some of the most affordable homes to buy can be the least affordable to heat. They can be very inefficient. All those drafty doors and overworked furnaces can add up to bills that can be hard for people to manage”, she says

Fortis home assessments include installation of energy-saving products such as water-efficient fixtures, energy-efficient LED light bulbs and weatherstripping.
Some clients might qualify for gas furnaces.

The open house will take place on the following places and times:

·         Royal Canadian Legion, 502 Harold Street, Slocan, Monday, June 10, 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
